ArborFos Update: Beech Leaf Disease (BLD)
ArborFos has been approved under an EPA Section 2(ee) recommendation for the management of Beech Leaf Disease (BLD). This expanded use provides arborists with an additional tool for helping protect beech trees affected by this emerging disease. ArborFos can be applied as a trunk injection using standard tree injection equipment, allowing the active ingredient to move systemically throughout the tree while minimizing off-target exposure. Arborfos™ is a phosphite formulated fungicide that inhibits fungal growth through stimulation of the plant’s own natural defense systems. Research indicates that Arborfos™ may also elicit a type of systemic acquired resistance response. Although it imparts no actual phosphorous nutrition, Arborfos™ treated trees tend to develop healthier leaves, roots and stems as it reduces disease pressure. Arborfos™ is registered for ornamental, forest and certain crop trees to manage many diseases including root diseases.
